Gin and Vodka Cocktails You Need to Try

Gin and Vodka Cocktails that you NEED to try!

Try as I might, I simply cannot resist the lure of a well-made cocktail. Delicate flavours coupled with a free-pour of hard liquor is something I’m sure we can all appreciate. For this reason, along with the fact I’ve just released some Moscow Mule + Gin Gift Sets, I thought it would be appropriate to share some of my foolproof recipes of gin and vodka cocktails with you.

Also, it’s Father’s Day on Sunday 6th September. If you’re like me, you’ve likely put him through the wringer and he could do with a drink. Alternatively, if you have a friend in ISO right now, they’re likely thirsty. Be a good sport and send them a little something to fill the time.

Moscow Mule

A crowd-pleaser, the Moscow Mule can be enjoyed in the AM (closer to lunch if you have adult responsibilities!) or PM for its light, refreshing tang makes it an easy sip.

All you’ll need is:

  • 30ml Gin or Vodka (traditionally, white rum is used but any light spirit will do the job)
  • 2 TBS Sugar
  • One generous squeeze of Lime Juice
  • 20ml Sparkling Water
  • Crushed Mint

METHOD:

Simply add your ingredients to a shaker and serve it over ice. I might add, it tastes better when served in a copper mug.

Gin and vodka cocktails

White Russian

If you enjoy your cocktail creamy, this one is for you. At a stretch, this could even suffice as a meal as it contains an essential food group, dairy.

All you’ll need is:

  • 50ml Vodka
  • 25ml Coffee Liqueur
  • 1tbs of Cream
  • Ice

METHOD:

Mix gently and pour into your glassware of choice. Hint: copper is a fantastic option to keep your creamy cocktail chilled.

Spring Solstice

This very fitting beverage is a sensational choice as we head into spring. The delightful elderflower and jasmine undertones make this floral cocktail oh-so-posh and a pleasure to drink.

All you need is:

  • 25ml Gin
  • 25ml Sauvignon Blanc
  • 5ml Elderflower Syrup
  • 5ml Jasmine Syrup
  • Orange & Rosemary to garnish

METHOD:

Shake all ingredients in your cocktail shaker while singing “shake, shake, shake, shake your BOO-TY” for a fun time. Serve with a sprig of rosemary and a thin slice of orange.

Copper Mug

Classic Negroni

This full-bodied bitter cocktail packs a punch for all the right reasons. An excellent drop for mid-afternoon sessions. The very sophistication of it will add a touch of class to any event.

All you need is:

  • 25ml Gin
  • 25ml Sweet Vermouth
  • 25ml Campari
  • Ice

METHOD:

Pour the gin, vermouth and Campari into your glass, mix gently and add a few cubes of ice. If you’re feeling really fancy, garnish it with a thin slice of blood orange.

Which cocktail speaks to you? I for one, am off to sample each. I will report back when the hangover clears.
