Introducing the CLINQ team! Sometimes it is good to put a face to a name and see the personalities behind the brand, so we thought we would put together a ‘Meet The Team’ intro!
CLINQ is run by a team of women (not planned, just how it worked out) who have a passion for what they do and enjoy the odd tipple (or two) and a good cheese board. We LOVE entertaining, so our goal is to bring you the best in uniquely designed products that help you celebrate in style!
Lucy Holland – Founder & Chief CLINQer
First in our series of ‘meet the team’ posts is Lucy – founder of CLINQ, new Mum and wine lover extraordinaire! Lucy’s love of entertaining and ‘shiny pretty things’ is what inspired her to set up CLINQ.
Originally an engineer and designer (rocket scientist to be precise), Lucy uses these skills to design many of Clinq’s products herself, making them unique in the market. Before expanding the team Lucy has done every role imaginable in the business so really knows her stuff – earning her the title of chief CLINQ-er!
Here are some ‘just for fun’ Q&As to get to know Lucy.
1. Favourite Food – Mexican
2. Top Travel Destination (been or want to go) – Galapagos
3. Favourite CLINQ Product/s? Carved handle cheese knives (I’m a big cheese lover!)
4. What’s your tipple? I’m a red wine gal – medium to full bodied like a Malbec, Shiraz or Tempranillo are my favourites.
5. What was the last thing you read? I like to escape reality with novels – Clive Cussler is my current go to.
6. Mountains or beaches? Mountains
7. Cats or dogs? Mmmm… tough one. I have one of both. Used to be cats, but I think it’s more dogs now.
8. What’s your guilty pleasure? Ice Cream!
9. What song always gets you out on the dance floor? Anything by Faithless
10. Would you rather cook or order in? Cook if I have time.
11. What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? A helicopter flying experience.
12. What’s your favourite thing about working at CLINQ? Designing products which our customers love. It’s a great feeling.
Gillian – Wholesale Sales & Account Manager
“Originally from the UK, I have been living in Australia since 2018. CLINQ is my first role in my new country after taking a career break for 2.5 years to raise my two children, now aged 6 and 9.
My main role as ‘Wholesale Sales and Account Manager’ is generating new business and managing our existing client base. Although, working for a small business I often wear many hats, finance, customer service, logistics and even pick and pack when we have staff shortages (Damn Covid!)
I enjoy the diversity of the role and being part of a growing, all female led business.”
1. Favourite Food – It’s so hard to choose one favourite but if you twist my arm, I will have to say Spanish Tapas! Small plates of delicious, tasty food. Chorizo al vino, mixed olives, tortilla, patatas bravas and gambas al ajillo are my all-time favourites.
2. Top Travel Destination (been or want to go) – My dream destination would have to be the Maldives, it’s always been a destination I would love to go to but never had the opportunity yet.
3. Favourite CLINQ Product/s? – My favourite CLINQ product must be the Stemless Copper Champagne Flutes. I use them at home and take them with me when we fancy a prosecco at the beach watching the sun go down. I love them!
4. What’s your tipple? – Old Fashioned! made with Maker’s Mark Bourbon. It’s funny, because when we go out for dinner and the waiter brings over the drinks, they always assume the Old Fashioned is for my husband, I quickly correct them. I also love making these myself in CLINQ’s Rocks Glasses
5. What was the last thing you read? – I rarely have the time to sit and read a book, so I listen to audiobooks as I do the chores, take the dog for a walk etc. I have just finished listening to ‘The Happiest Man on Earth’ by Eddie Jaku.
6. Mountains or beaches? – Beaches! Sandy toes and the sound of the ocean gets me every time.
7. Cats or dogs? – Dogs 100% dogs.
8. What’s your guilty pleasure? – Watching a cheesy, romantic, movie with a glass of red wine and a bar of dark chocolate.
9. What song always gets you out on the dance floor? – ABBA – Dancing Queen (who doesn’t get up and dance to this?)
10. Would you rather cook or order in? – Cook!
11. What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? – A necklace my husband had custom made for me after the birth of my son. It’s beautiful and precious to me.
12. What’s your favourite thing about working at CLINQ? – Work life balance. I love that I have the flexibility to work hybrid and the versatility of my role, there is never a dull day.
Hannah – Marketing Coordinator
Also, originally form the UK, I have a background in buying and ecommerce. Moved from London to Sydney in 2015 attracted to the laid back Aussie life style! I have 3 young daughters (including twins) who keep me busy when not working.
I manage CLINQ’s marketing campaigns – including CLINQ’s. emails, social media, blog posts, etc. I love seeing CLINQ products being used and in-store so don’t forget to tag us on social media so I can share!
1. Favourite Food – Vietnamese! I just love the flavours and freshness. When I was travelling in Vietnam a street food tour in Hanoi was one of my trip highlights.
2. Top Travel Destination (been or want to go) – I have done a lot of travel so it’s so hard to pick. I used to do volunteer work teaching English in Sri Lanka and was there just after the 2004 tsunami so it will always have a special place in my heart. Travelling in South America is another dream of mine.
3. Favourite CLINQ Product/s? – I love our marble serving platter, just find the size so useful…I use it as a tray for cocktails and for creating a cheese board. Really handy and looks great placed on your table and styled.
4. What’s your tipple? – Gin and tonic is my go-to. Love a Negroni – but they go straight to my head, so I can’t drink them often!
5. What was the last thing you read? – I’m in a book club so I tend to read quite a diverse range of books that are not always my first choice. I love a good murder mystery thriller and also a good historical novel as I can be a bit of a history geek!
6. Mountains or beaches? – Both! I live within walking distance to the beach so go a lot, and actually really enjoy the beach in the winter when you can just walk and listen to the ocean. Being in Australia
7. Cats or dogs? – Cats! I actually love dogs but never been in the position to have one, so feel as though I have to say cats. I did have a cat when I was growing up who was so lovely and affectionate
8. What’s your guilty pleasure? – Trash TV! Embarrassed to admit that I watch Love Island!! (I should probably never admit that!) ha ha.
9. What song always gets you out on the dance floor? – ABBA – Dancing Queen (who doesn’t get up and dance to this?)
10. Would you rather cook or order in? – Order 100%. I appreciate good food and appreciate it so much more when other people cook! I love entertaining though and love putting together a good cheese board and making cakes. You could say that party food is my specialty!
11. What’s the best gift you’ve ever received? – I have a diamond ring that my Mum designed and had made for me from one of my grandmother’s rings which is pretty special. She gave it to me after the birth of my first daughter. I also have a necklace my husband gave me with the initials of our 3 girls that I never take off.
12. What’s your favourite thing about working at CLINQ? – Flexibility – we are all working Mum’s and I love that everyone understands the importance of being able to have this option. And of course the product is fantastic and fun to work with!
